What is the FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card?
The FCMB ATM Debit Card is a highly secured Chip & PIN Card that is
linked to the Cardholder’s Current (Checking) and/or Savings Account(s).
It provides 24/7 access to the Cardholder’s Account(s) and can be used at Point
of Sales Terminals (POS), ATMs and web-based transactions within Nigeria. The
FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card is a Verve Card powered by InterSwitch whose Chip
meets all the Industry standards set by Europay, MasterCard and Visa (EMV) for
smartcard-based debit cards. The FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card can be used on any
POS or ATM with the InterSwitch inscription.
What is a Chip Card?
A Chip Card is a payment card embedded with a microchip containing a
micro-computer. The microchip holds the latest fraud prevention technology,
making chip cards extremely secure.
Why is FCMB moving to Chip N PIN cards?
FCMB is moving to Chip N PIN cards because they offer greater security
and peace of mind to you.
How much does the FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card cost?
NGN 750.00 only for the Classic Cards
NGN 1,000.00 only for the Gold Cards
Staff will be charged a flat fee of NGN 500.00
What are the main differences between Magnetic stripe cards and Chip
Cards?
Your current debit card has a magnetic strip while chip cards are
equipped with a micro-computer stored in a microchip. The chip card is more
secure as the data are further encrypted after encoding. Apart from this, for
transactions on POS terminals, you will need to insert your card and leave it
there until the transaction is confirmed.

Does this mean that the magnetic stripe cards are no longer secure?
Magnetic stripe cards are secure and the chip card technology will only step up
this security. We highly recommend you getting a New FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card
Will I still be able to use my existing Mag-stripe card?
Yes it is still accepted. You can continue to use your existing Mag-stripe card
as normal until it expires and then you will receive your new Chip & PIN
card. We highly recommend you getting a New FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card
Can I migrate from my existing Mag-stripe card to the New FCMB
(Verve) ATM Debit Card?
Yes you can. Simply visit any of our FCMB Branches and fill in the FCMB ATM Card
Request Form at the Customer Service Desk. The cost to migrate is:
NGN 750.00 only for the Classic Cards
NGN 1,000.00 only for the Gold Cards
Staff will be charged a flat fee of NGN 500.00

After I get my New Verve Card, Does my Mag-stripe card automatically
get blocked?
No. You will have to fill another form called the Block card form to enable us
block your card or you can call our contact centre numbers on Contacting the
FCMB customer care call centre on 01-2798800, 0700-FCMB-MYBANK (0700 3262692265)
to block your card.
How can I renew my Expiring/Expired ATM Card?
Simply visit any of our FCMB Branches and fill in the FCMB ATM Card Request Form
at the Customer Service Desk. The cost to get your card re-issued is:
NGN 750.00 only for the Classic Cards
NGN 1,000.00 only for the Gold Cards
Where can I use my FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card?
With your New FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card, you get unbeatable reach, matchless
access to cash and payment services on all channels on the InterSwitch Network.
Your Card can be used on the following channels on the InterSwitch Platform:
ATM, POS, WEB, MOBILE and KIOSK; basically anywhere where the Verve Logo is
displayed to signify Acceptance.
Is the FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card enabled for WEB Transactions?
Yes. The FCMB Verve Card is now enabled for WEB transactions only on the

Will I continue to have access to the same services?
Yes. The new card will include all your customary services such as:
- Withdraw Cash on the go from ATMs
- Pay Bills – DSTV, Utility, Phone & Other bills via ATM and other
Channels on the InterSwitch Platform
- Make purchases in stores with POS terminals on the InterSwitch
Platform
- Make purchases online on websites with the Web Payment engine on
the InterSwitch Platform
- Send Phone Credits to your Phone Line.
- Transfer funds from one account to another.
- Check your Bank Account Balance
- Print out a Mini-statement
- Do a PIN change

Will I need to activate my FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card before I can
use it?
Yes, you need to activate it. To activate, you need to change the
default PIN given to you by FCMB via an ATM to a new PIN you remember and will
keep safe.
What security measures should I observe when using my card?
As you already do for your debit card, take all necessary precautions
to protect the PIN associated with your chip card. For example:
Never disclose your PIN to anyone;
Choose a PIN that is easy to remember, but avoid using your birth date, address,
digits of your telephone number, etc.
Never write down your PIN or store it electronically;
If you feel your PIN has been compromised, change it at any FCMB Bank ATM.
Do I need a bank account before I can own the new FCMB ATM Debit
Card?
Yes you need to have an FCMB bank account to own a debit card. If you
do not have an account, visit any of our FCMB branches nation-wide and one will
be opened for you.

What should I do if my card is stolen?
Report the theft immediately to FCMB through any of the following:
- Contacting the FCMB customer care call centre on 01-2798800,
0700-FCMB-MYBANK (0700 3262692265) to block your card (Recommended action)
- Visit the nearest FCMB Branch and filling in a request form at the
Customer Service Desk
- Sending an email to
customersolutions@firstcitygroup.com
- Request for a new FCMB (Verve) ATM Debit Card at the Customer
Service Desk in any of our Branches.
